The house is in the middle of Munich. It could also be in the foothills of the Alps. But the surrounding buildings are not exactly reminiscent of a big city. A detour here takes you to another world. But that's also Munich. More diverse than you think.

The Kriechbaumhof is located in the Haidhausen district at Preysingstrasse 71. It is one of the last examples of a hostel. This type of building was more common in Haidhausen and the Au until the two districts were largely destroyed in World War II. The wooden houses had low ceilings and many small apartments. People moved into individual rooms or floors. The accommodations had their own doors, which were accessible via their own staircases. This meant that many hostels had three staircases and more doors than windows. This way, all residents had their privacy.
The Munich Society for Urban Renewal leases the house to the Munich section of the DAV.
