At the moment (as of January 2021) the biographies of Horst Kutscher and Johannes Sprenger are missing on the two smaller steles. Only the large orange memorial stele is intact.
January 3, 2021
The information and memorial site consists of an information column and two memorial plaques and is located below the Rudower Höhe.
The two memorial plaques are dedicated to the victims of the Wall who died in the immediate vicinity. The texts read:
Horst Kutscher, born on July 5, 1931, shot on January 15, 1963
Johannes Sprenger, born on December 3, 1905, shot on May 10, 1974
It was only nine days later that Johannes Sprenger's family was informed of his disappearance and hypocritically promised that "search measures would be initiated". Stasi employees informed them the very next day that Johannes Sprenger had allegedly been found strangled in a wooded area near the Buch Clinic, where he was being treated for lung cancer: "Clear suicide," they said. However, according to the death certificate, the cause of death was "apparently a gunshot wound."
