The marked foundation is the remnant of St. Andrew's Church, which was built around 1200. The church was built of brick on a granite foundation. It served both as a parish church and as a chapel for the king.

In 1375, King Waldemar Atterdag was buried here in the church, but later his bones were moved by his daughter, Margrethe I, to the Sorö monastery church. (see information board on site)
