Unlike their real-life counterparts, they are free of their riders and have left their pedestals. The free-running horses are striding towards Köpenick Palace, which is cut off from the old town by a major traffic artery. The sculptures create a conceptual link within the disrupted historical urban fabric and, with their anarchic presence, invite a re-examination of familiar images of power.
