In 1952, the facility was built by the Schleswig-Holstein Football Association and was subsequently operated as the Malente Association Sports School. In 1953, "Uns Uwe" played for Hamburger SV for the first time in a league match at the age of just 17 - thanks to special permission from the DFB.
