The Malenter Au was renatured as part of a joint project between the Schwentine Water and Soil Association (WBV) and the “Wasser-Otter-Mensch” association. The area was restored to the state of 1790. Pond meadows and lakes were restored, the water level was increased by installing oak piles, trees were planted, water was removed and amphibian ponds were created. Today, the 100 hectare area feels like Sea eagles, cranes, ducks, kingfishers, swans, cormorants and geese native.malente-tourismus.de/malente/fuehrungen/wanderung-malenter-au
