About Martin

Planned long in advance, then pushed back two days due to the current rain forecast and finally carried out on the worst possible day (in terms of actual rain event).
For three to four hours there were threatening rain and storm clouds above us, which caused us some worries the whole time 🤔. And it actually…

Trip into the past: Spontaneous bike ride with Klaus through several places around my old home in northern Hesse, where I was born almost 70 years ago and grew up for 20 years.
Many memories came to light, some of which I tried to capture or comment on in the pictures.

After spending most of the morning looking around Kassel's Karlsaue, the afternoon was reserved for the Wilhelmshöhe mountain park.
At around 1:30 p.m. we took tram line 1 from Königsplatz up to the final stop “Wilhelmshöhe (Park)”.
The sensation of this park, which has been a World Heritage Site since…

The inner city of Kassel is well known for its "architectural deficiencies" after the huge destruction at the end of World War II.
Nevertheless, there are some interesting things and buildings to discover here. On my way to the "Orangerie" palace and through the Karlsaue, I tried to capture and capture…

A wonderful and eventful day with many, some more, some less well-known sights around the famous Wartburg city.
Famous for its castle and its connection with Martin Luther (keyword Bible translation). Less because of the art of innovative automobile construction - although the GDR cult car (with the name…

Sixth and final stage of the Werratal cycle path (from Eschwege to Hann-Münden - with Bad-Soden Allendorf and Witzenhausen as towns worth seeing and mentioning "in between"). For me personally, however, it was the first stage of this beautifully developed and easy-to-manage cycle path.
The tour was both…

"It's been 35 years and more" - that I spent my entire time studying in Göttingen.
Afterwards I went far to the south of Germany, so this was my first real encounter with the city again in so many years. This brought back some memories that had faded quite a bit in the meantime.
Despite everything that…

I have only @frank_hikingphotography to thank for this very special experience (absolutely not recommended for claustrophobics) 👍. When he published his corresponding "tour" recently (Sunday, August 23, 2023), I was very close and only about 40 kilometers away by train. It was clear to me: the opportunity…

Lindenau is less than two kilometers as the crow flies from my old hometown. A godforsaken nest with very few houses that could almost be classified in the “lost places” category. After the former hussar barracks, only about 500m away, were abandoned by the Bundeswehr many years ago, this impression…

My second visit to the Killesberger Höhenpark - this time not in the middle of winter but in early autumn, where there are still many flowers to be seen and the dahlias in particular are in full bloom. Also, unlike last time, I had my eye-catcher (Lori 🐕) with me for many of the countless photos…
