About Martin

Today the 1st stage of the Neckarsteig (from Heidelberg to Neckargmünd) was on the agenda.

What could be more obvious than to pay a visit to the Heidelberg Castle right at the beginning and to let these time-honoured walls, which already impressed Goethe beyond measure, have an effect on you.

      I did that

At noon, I accidentally noticed that on the same (Saturday) evening there was one last of only two opportunities a year to visit the Karlsruhe Zoo outside of the normal opening hours - until late in the evening at 10:30 p.m. instead of only until 6:00 p.m.

I immediately took advantage of that, even though

"Rastatt in front of the lens" - that was the title of an event on July 2nd, 2022 for amateur photographers with a special interest in architectural photography.

In this two-hour event, the three of us were instructed by Matthias Gessler (Head of the European Photo Academy in Rastatt) on some essential

      The Kinzig Valley Cycle Path:

Even the third time it's at least as beautiful as the first time. Wonderful early summer weather played a not inconsiderable part in this - even if one or the other got a little (too) warm around noon 🌞🥵🤣.

Very early in the morning (6:30 a.m.) the four of us left Muggensturm

Directly after the somewhat disappointing Neckarweg from Heidelberg to Ladenburg (see komoot.de/tour/818779377) we have attached this city tour through Ladenburg.

The Roman town is known for its listed old town, as the long-standing place of work of Carl Benz and its particularly traditional history

Heidelberg and Neckar: still largely unknown to me - and I wanted to change that. So it can't be that bad to walk from Heidelberg along the Neckar towards Mannheim - I thought so.

I wish I had taken a closer look at the map first. Then I would have noticed that the first four kilometers of this tour are

After the previous "listening tour" through historic Bad Wimpfen (see komoot.de/tour/815532510 ), the ninth (last) stage of the Neckarsteig followed, which we walked from Bad Wimpfen towards Gundelsheim . For me personally the first (and certainly not the last) stage of the Neckarsteig long-distance

BAD-WIMPFEN - I had heard the name before, but not much else. And where exactly that is, I had to look it up in Google Maps (shame on me 😂).

But when I then saw that there is also a "listening tour" in the app of the same name and that the city is also the starting and ending point of a stage of the

My first visit to Worms with lasting impressions of the sights of this important medieval city.

The (Imperial) Cathedral is about 100 years younger and a bit smaller than that of the other two ShUM cities Speyer and Mainz, but definitely not less worth seeing. It is located at the highest point in the

Third and last part of today's "Komoot trilogy" as part of stage 3 of the Palatinate Wine Trail (from Bad Dürkheim to Deidesheim) on June 13th, 2022.

After we had already done a small city tour in the morning and visited the spa gardens of Bad Dürkheim (see separate tour publications), the actual hike
