About Martin

A bike ride with Kurt, the symbadic (and friendly) red deer from the Murg Valley 😂.
Our destination was, once again, the Bernsteinfelsen (Amber Rock), from where we cycled to the EKS (refreshment stop 🍺) at the Mönchhof in Moosbronn.
Afterwards, there was a "photo session" at and in the Maria Hilf pilgrimage

An absolute highlight at the end of my 10-day Berlin vacation 👍. The weather was sensational, mostly cloudy and slightly rainy 🌧🤣. But luckily, it stayed dry all day.
Just the right thing to avoid attracting too many visitors. And that's exactly how it was all day long. At times, it even felt like

Today, for a change, there was no rain 👍 - but unfortunately, no sun either 👎. Nevertheless, it was a fantastic day, which I spent about 90% of with Lori 🐕 in the Volkspark "Am Friedrichshain."
We started at Alexanderplatz station, where, of course, the Berlin TV Tower, the gigantic Neptune Fountain

I've already seen and experienced a lot in Berlin. What's definitely still missing is the Ku'Damm, I thought. And combining it with the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Ruins and the Breitscheidplatz there (and its sad past in connection with the Christmas market on December 19, 2016) would make a nice half-day

According to the weather forecast, it's supposed to rain all day today in the greater Berlin area – quite heavily in places 🌧😪. So what should I do – since I'd already made a Berlin plan for today 🤔? Staying at home (in my vacation rental) was out of the question 😅.
So I took another closer look at

Today's program included exploring Treptower Volkspark. Based on plans by Gustav Meyer from 1864, it was created between 1876 and 1888 on an area of approximately 88 hectares as a recreational and leisure park for the Berlin population.
Along with Humboldthain, Friedrichshain, and Victoria Park, it is

A must-see for all lost-place lovers 👻: the former Berlin Workers' Lung Sanatorium (Beelitz Heilstätten). A very special place with plenty of morbid charm.
To participate in one of the various guided tours through the ruins, you also have to book a €17 ticket online for the park and the treetop walk

Yesterday, in the cooler evening hours, I was still walking along the Crane Trail, and today I took advantage of the fresh morning air to explore the adjacent wilderness trail.
The approximately 8km long tour starts at the forest parking lot at the Bergsee lake, continues north past the Butzener Bagen

Yesterday we had a hearty celebration, this morning we all had a leisurely breakfast together, followed by a sun-drenched two-hour boat trip across the Schwieloch (Schweineloch) Lake, and then an afternoon nap 🥱 at the holiday accommodation 😅.
But that can't be all for today, especially since the weather

Strasbourg in the height of summer with temperatures around 35 degrees 🥵😂. Was that really a good idea today 🤔?
I got up extra early to enjoy the cooler morning hours and (hopefully 🤔) to get ahead of the usual tourist rush at Strasbourg Cathedral. Both of these options worked out almost perfectly
