The "Vreneli Fountain" on Claraplatz, created by Wilhelm Gerstel (1879-1963) in 1954. It was a gift from the Baden neighbors, who used it to express their gratitude for aid deliveries from the Basel population after the Second World War. The bronze figure above a polygonal trough made of limestone shows a girl in Black Forest costume, as described by Hebel in the poem "Hans and Verene".
