ABBATUCCI SQUARE:
The story, under my tree
“Linden, stand still!” This is the marshal speaking. The one for whom a parade ground is intended for soldiers, and only for soldiers. No trees.
But the garrison is no more, so now Vauban the gardener has the say: the former parade ground is dead, now the trees are standing! Tight!
Since the elegant renovation in 2013, Abbatucci Square is crowned by a new generation of lime trees, as it has been since the garrison left in the 19th century. A nod to history: I chose the "Tilia conlata 'Rancho'", a variety that blooms in summer and is adapted to the urban environment, in Germany. And when they order us to stop, it's only to enjoy the shade better and maybe even sit on a bench and imagine what a military parade looked like here. Stand still!

The square makes a sad impression despite the monument. It's clean, but hardly frequented.
