In the middle of the 19th century, three administration buildings were built on the south side of the town square: the main salt office on the vaults of the baroque Salzmaierhaus (built in 1716 by the Munich court architect Viscardi), the district court in place of the town clerk's house and the old town hall from 1576 and the neo-Gothic town hall (today's façade from 1947/49) on the foundations of a former town house. From 1995 to 1999 the entire complex was renovated and partially converted into today's town hall. A fountain house from the 13th century that originally belonged to the Salzmaieramt was uncovered (see floor showcase in front of the building on the town square).
