      Four of us on a tried and tested, beautiful circuit. The wind made it pretty fresh and cloudy, but the weather held up.
      Four different bikes:
      KTM Life approx. 25 years old, converted to eBike by Aroos (aroos-ebike.com);
      KTM Amparo eBike, also bought used from Aroos;
      Flyer gotour 4;
      Electric Brompton from the B7 (b7fahrradzentrum.at) two weeks old
      All of them have proven themselves and have done a good job.

  2. Barbara & Andreas went for a bike ride.

    1. Barbara & Andreas

      Today was a lucky day!
      The plan was to take the train (LILO - Stern & Haferl) from Linz to Waizenkirchen. Since there is currently rail replacement service from Linz to Leonding, I wasn't quite sure whether they would accept my Brompton as a piece of luggage on the bus. So be as raw as possible at the train station. The friendly staff said at first that unfortunately the bus cannot take a bike. When I had folded it up and asked if it was still a bicycle, the man said: "No, a pile of metal! - That’s okay." So in the end I reached an earlier train that only went as far as Eferding. Wait 1 / 2h and then we continued comfortably to Waizenkirchen.
      So many deer, hares and pheasants walked across the fields.
      In Waizenkirchen I found the Rathmayr bakery for the traditional cappuccino with croissant! Tasted good!
      Then we went down the beautiful Aschach Valley, where I was once again surprised how many climbs can be on such a route down the valley! This 10km I enjoyed the gentle motor support 1/3.
      In Aschach I brake slowly to rest on a banker. At that moment, two fully packed touring cyclists appear on the Danube Cycle Path, which are also slowing down.
      An unbelievable sight in these times! We are in conversation immediately! On the way from Switzerland to AUS! Traveling with a tent for 23 days! Bathed in the Danube for the last few days, longing for a shower! Our guest room has longed for Warmshower's guests!
      So in the end we will arrive at home safely together!
      We make a little detour to the St. Leonhard branch church in Pesenbach.
      Since this recording includes the entire lap, km and km / h are average including bus and train. We have to try out even better how this recording makes sense for a combined train and bike ride.

      In this recording, I cut away the beginning of the bus and train. I don't understand how this time and the average km / h come about! Maybe I shouldn't have cut it since the trip wasn't counted as a break anyway?

      It almost felt like that! Again with the trekking bikes over the military training area up to the Linzerberg. It was positively surprised how well it goes with a poor level of fitness.
      And finally meet friends again and enjoy their hospitality at an old horse-drawn railway keeper's house.
      It did well!

      In the REX bike in the direction of Passau (Linz Hbf from 8:50 am - Grieskirchen at 9:24 am) we ride the Brompton as luggage for the first time. Pleasant and easy.
      We borrowed a normal Brompton from the B7 bicycle center so that Barbara can check again whether she would prefer to have M or H handlebars. We change bikes and ride all day without electricity. It's going so wonderfully! We ride the Trattnachtal Cycle Route R17, Eferdinger Landl Cycle Route R18 and, from Ottensheim, the Danube Cycle Route R1. Through the area of the "Scharten" there are many flowering cherry trees. We find a successful combination. Again and again beautiful sections through nature even if we find that the area is extremely sprawled and we drive a lot through built-up areas, especially at the beginning.
      At the Spargelhof Mayer they even have green asparagus for us, although yesterday on the phone call it was said that everything was already reserved because the ground and air are still too cold at the moment. We'll taste it again!

      After work, a lap with the Electric Brompton today to test some mountain classification. It has three levels of motor support and 2x three gears (1-3 hub and "-" and "+" chain). With full support I drive up to the host z`Bairing; in gears 2 and 3 at approx. 17 km / h to 20 km / h. I am amazed how easy it is and still feel physical activity.
      Only when I pass the capable racing cyclists do I feel a little unfair and at least try to say hello.
      Since I miss the Auerweg, I have to go back down Altenbergerstrasse. On the smooth asphalt, I can dare to go faster and get up to 55km / h. The bike rides smoothly and stably without wobbling and can be braked well. The drive on the busy road is not pleasant and I don't want to fall either.
      After 100 miles = 160km there was the first service and software update today.
      Folding it is getting easier and easier and the certainty that I can take it with me on the tram helps me to ride my bike to work even if the weather forecast is poor.
      I am very satisfied and look forward to riding this special bike!

      And winter still won't let go! We trudge through a surprising amount of snow to the Richtberg-Taferl chapel. Finally with Andrea's sister again! In May 2018 we had bright, sunny, warm weather.

      A first major exit for this year and also with the Brompton Electric (b7fahrradzentrum.at) over a new route.
      We want to get into the notches for the cherry blossom. In order to avoid driving through the city in Linz, we drive to the Abzüge power plant and then the Traun cycle path from the mouth.
      We don't quite get into the notches, that would be too far, but the Eferdinger Landl is also very beautiful!
      It never works without adventure! The official R18 was simply blocked in front of a gravel works, with no indication of a diversion. Thanks to the advice of walkers, we drove / pushed through the gravel works, as there was no operation today.
      At the Spargelhof Mayr (spargelhof.at) we get the first asparagus, which we enjoy right away in the evening!
      The Brompton drives very well! The first 45km are fine without any motor assistance. Then it's off to the hills and Barbara is happy to receive support for her already tired legs. It's just fun with the small bike and there is no problem keeping up with the other trekking bike. The only bumpy spots are felt much more clearly than with a trekking bike with a suspension fork and spring-loaded saddle.
      We are very satisfied!

      The first Electric Brompton running in Linz!
      A long waited phone call by Christian from B7: "Your Electric Brompton is arrived and ready to get!" So during winter snow storm in March I to the tram to the B7 (b7fahrradzentrum.at) to get it.
      Everybody was quite exited as it was the first one to leave the shop. We all are happy that these very special bicycles now also arrived in Austria!
      It really was a pleasure to run home crossing the new bridge and along the Danube with good speed. looking forward for many good rides!
      Thanks to Ronald and Christian and the whole team of B7!

      In the morning it's pretty fresh, not to say cold! But blue sky and sun lure you out.
      So once again the tour around Grasberg and Gmundnerberg, past the Heimathaus in the Viechtau and with a detour to the chapel where the Way of the Cross to Richtberg-Taferl begins. The engine is a pleasant aid for the steep climb.
