The first day of our bike tour to Mariazell and then on to Lilienfeld and St. Pölten. Actually we would now be traveling in Newfoundland with the motorhome ...! From an ecological point of view, it is better to ride a bike at home anyway!
The route led through many beautiful streets with little traffic through the beautiful landscape of the Mostviertel. The weather was pleasant to ride a bike. We are grateful and happy again with many memories of the Camiño in autumn 2019 in Spain.

The weather forecast announced rain at the latest in the afternoon. What came was more and more sun! So get out for a little "Tour de Urfahr" just to try the Brompton again with an improved setting of the hub gear and to enjoy the extremely agile and brisk driving.
A short stop at two cycling travelers who live nearby and are also warmshowers hosts to visit the second month old child. But they were gone!
Amazing what the beavers are trying to cut down. If they then give up, man must complete the work for safety reasons and cut down the tree!

An afternoon tour took us from Linz / Dornach via Danube (R1) and Roman Cycle Path (R14) to St. Florian and back.Today with two Brompton H6RD, one with standard, one with "Mühlviertel" translation. We noticed that the high handlebars (H) do us better. It's going incredibly well! Fascinating how fast it goes even with such small wheels! We are happy to visit the collegiate church with the grave of Anton Bruckner again, in whose incredibly good acoustics we have already seen beautiful concerts. Unfortunately there won't be any concerts of the abbey today! And the "stirred ice cream parlor" in the Baumgartner pastry shop in St. Florian is a crowning delight!

Today on Ascension Day we do the first "Tour de Linz" with borrowed Brompton demo bikes from the B7 b7fahrradzentrum.at. Past the memorial for nonviolence at the Nibelungen Bridge in the city of peace Linz linz.at/kultur/friedensstadtlinz.php we go through the magic valley to friends who spoil us with delicious food. Christine's homemade Esterhazy cuts cannot be beaten by any confectionery! And what's to come! Getting to know a game from New England that our friends got to know on a farm near Albany NY. At the "Corn-Hole" you throw sacks filled with corn kernels on a sloping board and try to hit the hole. You play in two teams. Each hit in the hole scores three points, each on the sloping, very smooth polished board scores one point.
      Funny and entertaining!
Then we continue up to the 13 tower, one of a whole series of defense towers on the western edge of Linz. Built at a time when such blast towers no longer made any military sense. On the way a chance meeting with another acquaintance who invited us for a refreshing beer at her home. A beer from the Europalkloster Gut Aich near St. Gilgen europakloster.com in which we got married. Then a brisk drive home! A demo bike had the standard translation, one the 12% reduced "Mühlviertel" translation; one with H, one with M handlebars. Both have 2x 3 gears, luggage rack and hub dynamo. So an H6RD standard, an M6RD with "Mühlviertel" translation. The most unusual thing is the fairly stretched position of the arms towards the handlebars and the slightly distant brake levers. For our purpose, the H-handlebar and the "Mühlviertel" translation are definitely important. The e-brompton variant would of course be the most comfortable luxury. But that doesn't exist in Austria yet.All in all an interesting experience!

A wonderful tour with a footpath addition.
In the Echern Valley we walked the hiking trail to Waldbachstrub. That is the high peak in the height profile! This part of the valley attracted many romantic painters and writers to visit in the 19th century. This probably promoted the first wave of tourists visiting Hallstatt.
A stop at the Grüner Baum inn in Hallstatt and in the Zauner coffee shop on the Esplanade in Bad Ischl was a long time missing pleasure!
Nice to be out with friends!

Today a very nice tour to the Attersee and back through the Weissenbach valley. Radiant weather and the restaurants that were reopened for the first time attracted many people. The enjoyment for the motorcyclists is unfortunately often scary and a massive noise pollution for cyclists.
But in the Weissenbach valley, almost the entire route of the R15 leads along a gravel and forest road through beautiful countryside. If you are not in a hurry, this path is highly recommended!
We enjoyed the first ice cream in a reopened restaurant in Traunkirchen!
Unfortunately, uploading the track did not work today. I was able to reconstruct the track a bit laboriously. But the photos are not positioned correctly geographically.

The usual little hike up the Gmundnerberg leads us along the G-enuss nature experience trail. Clouds come and move, sun and rain alternate. We stay dry and enjoy!

A small afternoon bike tour becomes a very nice tour with encounters and getting to know the beautiful home!
Since overnight stays with longer bike tours are just not yet possible, we visit a couple that we found at warmshowers.org. A very nice encounter with many similarities right away! They then accompany us on a special route back to Gmunden. On the way a meeting with dear friends whom we haven't seen in corona for a long time!
      How nice!

In bright weather, a steep, rewarding climb up very well-marked and well-kept paths. Thanks to the Wegekeeper of the OeAV Wels who describes the routes so precisely and always strengthens the motivation with humorous tips.
Once at the summit of the Hochsalm, a wonderful 360 ° all-round view is worth the hardship. We could see as far as the Großglockner in the distance!
There was a lot going on at the summit even during the week!
Thanks to Christl and Klaus who went with us and accompanied us professionally! Thanks for the many nice conversations!

Once again we enjoy the hike over the ridges of the Hongar in wonderfully bright weather. The Gasthaus Schwarz is closed due to COVID-19. Many people sit along the way and enjoy the new freedom of movement! There is Gugelhupf packaged in portions and Cafe from the thermos in self-service without personal contact. The garden is still closed, which does not detract from the enjoyment!
It was good that this exercise in the fresh air and beautiful nature!
