St. George and Catherine with warrior memorial complex in the city park. Center of the old Gottesacker!
Since time immemorial, the city's dead have been buried in the Haslacher Gottesacker. Smaller, unconsecrated cemeteries are documented for Ettendorf, encompassing the Oswald Church and the chapel of St. George and Kathrina on the lower town square.
At the beginning of the 17th century, the burial system was reformed. In 1638, the city acquired a piece of land on Mitterfeld, built its own cemetery and church there and assigned the patronage and assets of the aforementioned George and Catherine Chapel on the town square, which had since been demolished.
