We were here for the Löwenmarsch. A beautiful church that radiates a very special charm from the outside in the early twilight... 👍

A very nice tour, mostly on cycle paths with only short stretches on country roads (small villages with little traffic). The café in the monastery only serves drinks and cakes. We wanted something savory, so we went to the monastery shop, which sells homemade products like sausages, bread rolls, fruit, and vegetables.

The veneration of the SACRED HEART of JESUS can look back on a three-and-a-half-century-long history in the Catholic Church. It can be traced back to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoyue (1647 to 1690), a French nun. In this time-honored tradition, the church here in Saint Ottilien was also dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The probably most famous church in continental Europe with this patronage is SACRE-COEUR de Montmartre in the French capital.

The area is very beautiful and I really like the church in its neo-Gothic style. It looks much older than it actually is. Actually surprisingly young. The murder of the brothers of the order during the Korean War is tragic. Otherwise I can also recommend the nearby beer garden where inclusion is practiced.

The popular Türkenfeld Mountain Christmas takes place here every year during Advent, but before and after that, the Steingassen mountain, from which you have a wonderful view of Türkenfeld, the surrounding villages, Lake Ammersee and the Alps, is also worth a visit! Highly recommended!
