After a few days without hiking, today I went for a round around Ihlow / Ostfriesland ⚓️ in ideal hiking weather 🌤🌥.
After the Kölnpfad was unfortunately cancelled / aborted recently, the focus is now on the next highlight: the Wander-Backyard in Haltern am See in 3 1/2 weeks.

This march was planned as a so-called Chaukenmarsch by the organizer 🥾🥾Nordmarsch.
These marches are usually 110 km long and are held in Hamburg, Oldenburg, and on the Kiel Canal (NOK).
We had decided on the latter several months ago - unaware of the weather extremes that awaited us.

Something northwest of Cloppenburg lies this worth-seeing reservoir.
It is embedded in a recreational area, which largely consists of heathland, meadows, fields and forest.
I particularly liked the part covered with heather.
A trip and a hike are definitely worth it 😊

In ideal hiking weather, we went on a training march yesterday through Bremen and parts of the adjacent Diepholz district.
A personal highlight right at the beginning: I FINALLY discovered the Bremen Town Musicians 🫏🐕🐈⬛🐔... a pleasure that was not granted to me in 2014, during my pilgrimage hike

Yesterday, together with 1,110 other participants, we went through the western Münsterland, in the district of Coesfeld, in wonderful summer weather.

After the hot summer days before, it was wonderful today to be able to hike in pleasant 20-degree weather, with blue skies and sunshine.
A leisurely loop around the Zwischenahner Meer was ideal - and as always, it was the right choice.
As written... a quiet loop - only an approximately 90-year-old lady

In glorious hiking weather, we went on a cozy tour yesterday through the nearby forest, heath, and dune landscape.
Happening Highlights included a detour to the North Sea (the Danes understandably call it Westsee), a lap around Skavemose Lake, climbing two sand dunes... and generally the nature 😍

Another wonderful hike in a breathtakingly beautiful landscape.
The "paths" mostly led over stairs, ladders, chimneys and through narrow holes ... so every meter and meter of altitude was hard-won ... 🫣

Yesterday, a hike up to the Prebischtor / Czech Republic was on the agenda.
Afterwards, we went on a big loop through the magnificent and partly bizarre landscape of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
20.4 km, always interesting, which we could share with many, many other nature lovers.

Yesterday, during the Mammutmarsch Ruhrgebiet, I took on the 30 km route.
Although this was my 6th march there, the path led past many places I hadn't known until then.
A very nice march where everything was right - weather, route guidance, atmosphere, aid stations, and much more.

Yesterday's ultramarathon took place in ideal weather 🌤 through one of the most charming landscapes one can traverse as a hiker.
Magnificent nature, complemented by partly idyllic fishing villages, through which the path led.

The Mäschder Drehwurm is a running and hiking event. We started for over 24 hours. During this period, the goal is to cover as many laps or km as possible, running or hiking. One lap is 2.63 km long.
The circuit turned out to be more difficult than anticipated; the long ascent (approx. 400 m) was steeper

In typically North German miserable weather 😉🌧, the Mammutmarsch took place in Hamburg yesterday.
It was 50 km through and around the city - always an experience, regardless of the weather.
Inner and Outer Alster, City Hall, Elbphilharmonie, Jungfernsteg and much more were there to admire.
