The chapel of the former Emminger estate has been a place of pilgrimage for St. Ottilia. She was born blind in 660 and was rejected by her father. According to legend, she was baptized in Bavaria and raised by nuns. At baptism she received her sight. She is patroness of Alsace.

The monastery grounds are very large, you can stay there for quite a while and marvel at the buildings. Even the large church and the chapel could be visited from the inside. There is also a monastery shop on the premises, where you can buy souvenirs, books and pictures, as well as monastery products. After so many sights, you can quench your hunger and thirst in the 'Emminger Hof' monastery restaurant before you return home after a pleasant stay - whether by bike, car or on foot.
