A slow-paced and relaxing hike from Margate to Ramsgate along the England Coast Path, and exactly the endorphin boost I needed before heading back to work after a long summer break.
The day started fairly early in London, and by the time I reached Margate it was already around midday. I’d been suffering from a bit of the summer blues as the holidays came to an end, so this was a much-needed day out to clear my head, get some fresh air, and enjoy the coast.
This is a very familiar route for me, but this time I wanted to come off the ECP and walk closer to the actual coastline. Unfortunately, I didn’t time it quite right with the tides! By the time I reached Dumpton Gap, the tide was in, so I had to climb back uphill and continue along the cliff path rather than walk along the water's edge. Still, the views were excellent, and it made for a very enjoyable walk.
I stopped for a well-deserved lunch break in Broadstairs before continuing towards Ramsgate. The hike eventually finished at the Royal Harbour Arm, where I treated myself to a few pints at the country’s largest Wetherspoons, complete with one of the best views you could ask for.
A familiar route, but a brilliant way to finish the summer and get that much-needed endorphin boost before returning to work.
