Cruised a bit around the harbour specifically looking for motives for retro-looking high-contrast b/w pictures, which I found a-plenty. Unfortunately, I kind of too naively trusted Komoot's routing which resulted in a couple of dead ends I had to retrace my steps from, rather than the round trip I had planned. You know, as I was riding parallel to the east ramp of the Köhlbrand bridge (on which biking is forbidden), I *was* beginning to wonder how I was going to get over the Köhlbrand myself, because evidently any alternate bridge would have to be about as high as the big thing itself in order to allow ocean-going ships to pass under it. Needless to say, there is no such other bridge, and my route soon dead-ended on a ferry dock with a ferry every hour and the next still 45 minutes away. So I abandoned my round trip and biked all the way back to reach Moorgrund and Altenwerder the way I had wanted to return. A second dead end followed, in that the foot and bike path along the new Kattwyk bridge was permanently closed, which Komoot seemed unaware of. Fortunately the old bridge was open, so with a little semi-legal crossing of roads and railway tracks I got over the Süderelbe alright and got to enjoy the decaying charm of Moorburg and Altenwerder ... but again had to get back the same way.
