After years of working as a steward for Deutsche Bahn in the dining car, driving up and down the Geislinger Steige at least 4 times a week, I wanted to get to know the Steige from a different perspective. A beautiful hike with memories of my past. It was 25 years ago.😎
Beautiful hike around Geislingen an der Steige. No other hikers. I was disturbed by the car noise coming up from the valley. Pleasant temperatures, 22/23 degrees. The way mostly shady.
We only changed the section of the original 🦁-trail "Steigen-Tour" from the Helfenstein ruins down to Geislingen and the section through Geislingen. A cold wind actually blew almost the entire way, which we could have done without, but it was still fun 😄.
Cleo's 🐾 1er 🌞 bathing day this year, and my 💯 hike with Komoot. Brilliant day 👍.
On November 2nd I set out to hike the Löwenpfade climbing tour. The fog and the autumnal forest were wonderful. The tour was very varied with beautiful viewpoints. But there were also a few sections that I didn't like so much. Tarmac paths and along the road. It was still a nice 17 km circular hike.
Löwenpfade 9/16: Check ✅️ The Steigen Tour is officially 17km long and is the second longest after the Heldentour. I set off extra early because of the heat and that was a good thing. At the beginning I wasn't entirely happy with my decision as the route through Geislingen was poorly signposted and the climb to the Ostlandkreuz was extremely strenuous despite the shade. Fortunately, the worst was over and I enjoyed the rest of the tour to the fullest. There is enough shade, only after the Straubmühle you get a little fried, but then the forest comes again. There are highlights en masse, Ostlandkreuz, Geiselstein, Tiroler Felsen, Rohrachtal, Straubmühle (with a stop if you want), Ödenturm and the Helfenstein ruins. Plus, of course, the great little single trails that I love so much on the Löwenpfaden 😍 A really recommendable round 👍 Finally, the prize question for you: What does a tick do when my arms and legs are completely sprayed with tick repellent? That's right, it just crawls to my stomach and sucks itself on there, I've had that happen twice in a row 😭 I really don't know what to do anymore, the critters just love me.

Very nice tour above Geislingen. Except for two somewhat steeper climbs directly after the train station and then about the middle of the path a path that is easy to walk. The tour is perfectly signposted, even on the sometimes very narrow paths there is never a risk of getting lost. Good to walk even in hot weather, as there is a lot in the shade of the woods. Always beautiful views of the valley. Clearly to be recommended

So I would recommend a detour to the Knoll Monument (between Ödenturm and Amtstetten).
