The Ostlandkreuz of Geislingen (Steige) stands on the Sentinel at 665 meters and was built in 1950. The expellee monument is visible from afar and is often mistaken for a summit cross.

The Ostland Cross was created as a memorial to the displaced South Moravians. Inside, a construction crane was used as a base. From here you have a great view over Geislingen and over to the Ödenturm and Helfenstein. With these two landmarks you can actually see all three of Geislingen's landmarks.
The plateau between the parking lot and the cross (the Sentinel) is a typical heathland landscape of the Swabian Alb. This is a good place to play, have a barbecue and so on.

Ostlandkreuze - also called crosses of the German East - are monuments to displaced persons. Construction and maintenance are usually financed by donations from the displaced persons' associations.
