The Ostlandkreuz was created as a memorial to the expelled South Moravians. Inside, a construction crane was used as a base. From here you have a great view over Geislingen and over to the Ödenturm and Helfenstein. With these two landmarks you can actually see all three of Geislingen's landmarks.
The plateau between the parking lot and the cross (the guard) is a typical heathland landscape of the Swabian Alb. Here you can play well, have a barbecue and so on.

The Schildwacht located 665 m above sea level is an outstanding corner point of the Albtrauf near Geislingen / Steige. From the Sentinel you have a beautiful view of the Geislingen / Steige valley spider from east to north to north-northeast.
On the Schildwacht am Albtrauf near Geislingen / Steige is the 24 meter high Ostlandkreuz, visible from afar. It was built in 1950 by the South Moravian community to commemorate the dead and displaced from World War II.
