A SUPERB trail in every sense! Excellent signposting, pleasant paths, sublime viewpoints and a decent physical challenge. Excellent training for the longer "West" loop of this fabulous "circuit du lac".
The second day also offers a varied route and great views. There are options for shortening or lengthening at Esch. You can refill water or stop off in Esch-sur-Sûre.
Great trails, follow the blue book markings (lake circuit) from the Lultzhauzen Youth Hostel.... and have a drink / sleep there to start the western loop again the next day ;)
Obersauer Reservoir Loop from Esch-Sauer 🥾Start/Finish: Esch-Sauer 🥾Length: 15.6km 🥾 Duration: 3.40h The hike goes around the Obersauer Reservoir in the middle of the Obersauer Nature Park. The start is in Esch-Sauer (Esch-sur-Sûre), a small town with medieval charm. We hike west and cross the Sauer. In constant ups and downs we hike through forest areas towards Lutzhausen. In Lutzhausen there is a youth hostel where you can get something to eat from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. From here you can get to the other side via the floating bridge, a pedestrian path on pontoons. The hike continues uphill into the forest. We pass a bunker, in memory of the Second World War, and several beautiful viewpoints. We descend to the dam wall with a great view, over which a road with a pedestrian path leads. We follow the N27 to Esch-Sauer and return to the starting point.
Impressive walk along Lac de la Haute-Sûreover. During the hike, you cross floating bridges, have great views and depending on the season, you can pick delicious blackberries.
