Guttland Trail Bildchen
Oh my. This was absolutely lovely!
A pocket-sized gem of a trail on the doorstep of the Luxembourg City area. Utter serenity, hidden chapels, gurgling streams and impressive rock formations, all squeezed into an easy hike less than 7km long.
Probably my most surprising find of 2026 so far. Recommended!

Auto-Pédestre Wormeldange
After a long summer break, I'm back on the trails with this circuit of Wormeldange on a warm, muggy late summer's day. The St Donatus Chapel on the Koeppchen - THE prime vineyard real estate in Luxembourg - is the stand-out highlight of this enjoyable trek through the vineyards.

Sentier Adrien Ries - East
A varied trail between Diekirch and Bettendorf, mixing urban scenes with open countryside and forest. Frustratingly, its best viewpoint is wildly overgrown and the trail inexplicably doesn't go through the wonderful Schoofsbierg Nature Reserve, despite - literally - leading up to its gates. That's a bit like being led blindfold…

Starting from Nommerlayen campsite, this rewarding family-friendly loop builds beautifully, from gentle forest paths to dramatic sandstone squeezes, rocky stairways, and the excellent Kauzelee vertical labyrinth. PLUS: refreshments afterwards at the campsite bar. What is there not to like?

ER1 Erpeldange - Gateway to the Eislek
A satisfying and physically demanding 20km loop from Erpeldange, the "Porte des Ardennes". Apart from a few nice viewpoints and distant views of Bourscheid Castle, it is perhaps lacking some truly stand-out attractions, but makes up for it with kilometre after kilometre of glorious Luxembourg forest and countryside.

Mansfeld Circular Walk, Luxembourg City
Lush greenery and echoes of past splendour; there are times on this trail that you won't believe that you're in the centre of a European capital city. Plus, as is customary for Luxembourg Ville hikes, incredible viewpoints to linger at and savour.

Vauban Circular Walk, Luxembourg City
Another fabulous trail starting right from the centre of Luxembourg City. Meander through Vauban fortifications and expect a few ups and downs... but the views over this green, verdant city are more than worth it!

Auto-Pédestre Hobscheid
The forest around Hobscheid is pleasant enough, but really this trail is all about THAT tunnel. Damp, dimly lit, arrow-straight and highly atmospheric, it stretches for almost 700m and is the longest accessible old railway tunnel in Luxembourg. One for those who enjoy something a little different.
