Someone had an unusual idea here: in addition to the normal benches, there is a wooden porch swing. It's all about leaning back, gently rocking back and forth and enjoying the wonderful view of the Rhine Valley.

A nice narrow path as an interesting alternative to wide forest roads is always attractive, even if the formation of the landscape here requires constant ups and downs.

From here you have a beautiful view of the Rhine Valley and the spa towns of Bad Breisig on this side and Bad Hönningen on the other side of the Rhine.

Sinzig Castle

Highlight • Castle

The small castle in Sinzig seems to come directly from a fairytale movie. Arcades, arched windows, pitched roofs and around a well-kept garden - only a princess is missing.

In addition to the Drachenfels, you can also see the Wolkenburg and the Nonnenstromberg from left to right, recognizable by their flat peaks that were created by the mining of the peaks.

March 11, 2022,RheinBurgenWeg 02. Etappe - Remagen nach Bad Breisig
The second stage of the Rheinburgenweg is one of the most beautiful tours I've ever hiked!
Great paths, almost only forest, fantastic views, many highlights (see photos) and the perfect weather today. An all-round successful hiking experience.

The absolute highlight of the tour is a swing with an incredible view over the Rhine. 🏞🌞

So today is the 2nd stage. After a fairly steep climb unfortunately over a tar road, we went through forest and fields, then down towards Sinzig. There were a few small highlights such as Sinzig Castle or one or two beautiful churches. After Sinzig another climb and then it was virtually flat through the forest. On the descent we discovered …

We start in Remagen at the train station 🚉. First it goes steeply up into the mountain roads of Remagen. The residents there have a beautiful view of the Rhine and the Siebengebirge!

The following forest path is - unlike on the first stage - nice and dry and not at all muddy. It leads us over to the wooded …

It is nice and cool this morning, but we still start to sweat right behind the railway line in Remagen.

At the top we take a look back, then we walk leisurely through the forest.

Before Bad Bodendorf we go downhill and reach the Ahr. The traces of the flood are still visible here: the hiking trail is closed, the …

Today with a few pictures of Sinzig in the Ahr valley, where you can only guess what people are going through here.

Today we continued on the Rheinburgenweg. The 2nd stage from Remagen to Bad Breisig lay ahead of me. At the beginning there was a steep climb ⛰️ past the ruins of the Hotel Waldburg before walking down to the village of Bad Bodendorf.

Leaving Remagen, you'll once again enjoy a beautiful view of the Apollonaris Church on the hill of the same name. This Catholic pilgrimage church was built in the mid-19th century in the neo-Gothic style.
After that, the stage was sparse in terms of sights. The damage from the 2021 floods is still being repaired on both sides of the Ahr. …

To get in some training before my hiking holiday, I hiked the second stage of the Rhine Castle Trail today. With the RB26 delayed, as I was last week, I headed to Remagen train station, where the stage starts. It was a sweaty climb of 125 meters, sometimes quite steep. My joints were awake and already lubricated. Two more major …
