Very interesting pedestrian bridge between Algund and Forst in timber-frame construction with a roof and side walls. It is a so-called "covered bridge".

The perfect place to rest. From here you have an incredibly beautiful view of Merano and the valley, in the background the mountains, just fantastic. For resting there are also tables and benches.

First documented in 1238, Castelbello Castle dominates the Venosta Valley from a rocky outcrop on the left bank of the Adige River. From the cycle path, it is clearly visible above several apple orchards.

August 23, 2023,🇮🇹 Mit dem Rad nach Meran. Mit der Bahn zurück 🙂
Conquered the "Madritschjoch" the day before. So relax today. The nice thing about the Vintschgau, you always drive downhill from west to east...often even with a tailwind. Splendid! Took a break at the FORST brewery. 🍻 Continue to Meran. Filled 40⁰ degrees, convinced us not to stay there too long... From Till back by train.

Today is day 4 of the Via Claudia. Today, I'm taking a very relaxed bike ride to Merano. The bike path network is well-developed, and you just roll along.
I actually wanted to stop by Reinhold's at Juval Castle. But unfortunately, you're not allowed to ride up there by bike from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Forst Brewery is …

The Claudia Augusta is a long-standing tradition. Even the Romans used this route across the Alps during the Germanization process. Goods and merchandise were transported from Venice to Bavaria. The South Tyroleans built a wide, mostly well-paved road alongside the Adige. And it's well-used because it's entirely car-free. Some sections through the nature reserves are unpaved, but are well-surfaced so …

Today's stage was a bit quieter, not so many meters of elevation but very scenic. We passed through lots of small villages, stopped several times for a cappuccino and enjoyed the peace and quiet. And our stamina needs a break more and more often, ouch. 🥲

Completely flat tour, here you just have to make up kilometers.

What a fantastically well-developed cycle path, mostly paved, can also be done wonderfully with a gravel bike. Steadily downhill along the Etsch

Bike tour from Malles to Merano. Why I chose this title for the tour can be seen by looking at the elevation profile. We rented the bikes in Mals and returned them in Merano. The condition of the rental bikes left a lot to be desired! As a nice end to the tour, we can highly recommend a visit to …
