Löhnberg Suspension Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The floor of the bridge is made of gratings, so it is not suitable for people with a fear of heights. However, the view of the Lahn valley is wonderful.

Cycling here in the Lahn Valley when the weather is nice is always a great pleasure! The fact that there is no road in this section of the valley is an invaluable advantage!

August 28, 2022,3 Flüsse im Westerwald - Kerkerbach - Kallenbach - Lahn

The lower Kerkerbachtal is certainly one of the most beautiful cycle paths in the Limburg-Weilburg district. A few years ago it was still an insider tip. In the meantime, however, …

Very scenic cycle tour.
The cycle path through the Kerkerbach valley from Mengerskirchen in the Westerwald to Runkel an der Lahn largely follows the route of the former Kerkerbach railway. Except for a few sections, the route runs on or next to the disused railway line. The path is not paved throughout, but is easy to drive on.

We started in my former hometown of Ellar, first heading into the Westerwald via Waldernbach and Winkels. Before reaching Probbach, we made a brief stop at the idyllic Probbacher Weiher pond, then continued through the town itself down to Löhnberg on the Lahn River. There, a construction site left us a bit disoriented – but we found our way to …

First the duty to Weilburg and then came the freestyle: On the Kallenbachtalweg to the Ködinger spring. Then left, free to feel, up the ascent until familiar terrain appeared again at Arborn. I pushed the last few meters before the Kreuz church, but was rewarded with a beautiful view down the valley. The way back was via the R8 and …

It was nice to go for a ride to the Probbacher Waldsee with @Kretaernie today and to open the 2025 swimming season in glorious weather.
