The Plönlein is probably Rothenburg's best-known motif. Plönlein does not refer to a single object, but the entire area with the half-timbered houses, the Plönlein fountain, the Siebersturm and the Kobolzeller Tor.

November 17, 2021,Rothenburg ob der Tauber-Bettenfeld-Schandtauber-#W5 (17.11.21)
In the morning a mandatory course at the occupational medicine and in the afternoon an excursion through the valley of the Schandtauber on the W5 - (Rothenburg hiking trails). I've already cycled the route, so this time I was able to get to know the valley even better. The karst spring and the description of the underground watercourses are very …

The Schandtauber is one of the tributaries of the Tauber (= Old High German "short Tauber") and flows through the valley of the same name on the edge of the Frankenhöhe nature park. What is special about the stream: it has retained a torrent character, which is rather unusual for western Middle Franconia.

Thanks to @Christoph for suggesting taking the pictures with the phone camera. This is much faster on the go and you save battery. As always, the weather forecast didn't deter us and we were rewarded with this beautiful tour with almost no rain.

Rothenburg o.d.T., circular route 5/5b. Path runs above the Schandtauber at the edge of the field.
Section Blinksteige (vir Rothenburg for short) closed due to the danger of falling trees.

First day of vacation ⛱️..starting tomorrow, I'll be taking the Panorama Trail through the Tauber Valley 🏞️.

Today, I wanted to explore Rothenburg 🏘️ a bit, but first, I wanted to hike one of the many trails I found on a tourism website 👨‍💻:

rothenburg.de/erleben/aktiv-sein/wandern/rundwanderwege

A scenic route! The path along the Schandtauber is really rustic, but it requires sure-footedness.
On the way back there are breathtaking views of Rothenburg, which make it clear how many towers there are.
Despite the many steps, the walk through the wild pool was worth it.
