The city wall in Rothenburg leads around the whole city. The route from the Klingentor to the Spitaltor is completely accessible. On the side facing the valley, it is only provided with a battlement between Stöberleinsturm and Kohlturm along the hospital quarter, the so-called Kappenzipfel.

Within the old town are the towers of the first city wall, the town hall tower and the towers of St. Jakob. Most of the Tower Trail runs along the city wall, while a small section goes around it.
