It is one of the largest and most modern forts of the Defence Line of Amsterdam. Complete with two floors, a rotating armoured dome with two original Krupp cannons. The fort is regularly open to visitors. A fun day out in the beautiful world heritage Beemsterpolder! From October to April, the fort has special residents: bats and butterflies! They hibernate here. The bats need a constant temperature, a humid environment and peace. The fort with its thick walls is therefore very suitable. In order not to disturb them, the fort is closed then.
