The Oosterkerk or Sint-Antoniuskerk in Hoorn is a Gothic-style church whose origins date back to 1450. The current appearance of the nave and the north façade dates from 1616.

The façade stones of these 17th-century houses resemble a comic strip: They tell the story of the Battle of the Zuiderzee, which the West Frisians fought against Admiral Bossu's Spanish fleet in 1573. The West Frisians defeated the fleet here with their own fleet of small, maneuverable boats and conquered Bossu.

The (Protestant) Diaconiehuis is a building on the Achterom in the city center of the Dutch city of Hoorn (North Holland). The building at Achterom 3-5 is known as the Diaconiehuis, another word for almshouse, but was also used for many years as the mayor's residence. Only after the last mayor was it taken over by the Diaconia and served as a poor relief center for the Reformed Church.

There are always some very beautiful ships anchored here: beautiful to look at.

The church was bought in 1984 for conversion into shops and apartments. The building has 36 residential units, 18 of which are located between the wooden barrel vault and the roof, with the remaining apartments in the former rectory at the rear of the church. The tower is owned by the congregation. The Remembrance Day ceremony is held in the church every year. On January 4, 1945, five men were shot dead in front of the church. A memorial to them is attached to the facade to the right of the tower. This spot is also the end of the silent march that takes place every May 4 in memory of the men. A hotel and restaurant opened on the ship in 2022.
