A paradise for bird lovers! Het Landje is located near Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, near the A9 motorway and the Ouderkerkerplas lake. In mid-January, the water level is raised so that a layer of water covers the land, which continues into May. This attracts all kinds of wading birds and ducks like a magnet. Birds returning from Southern Europe and Africa settle here to fatten up. They also like to roost here because it's a safe haven. Black-tailed godwits (sometimes numbering several thousand), oystercatchers, ruffs, lapwings, wigeons, pintails, and many other species can be seen here. Black-winged stilts have even nested here. The Ouderkerk aan de Amstel Bird Working Group actively provides information from the birdwatching shed, which is open in early spring.

If plans change along the way, this pull spring can be a welcome solution! It's a bit of a struggle, as it's not exactly light and smooth, but it's still better than walking or cycling 😅

Beautiful photogenic walking dike along the Winkel that never bores and is different every time!

Heavy duty operation especially if you have to fetch it first and then cross the road 😅 but can definitely come in handy in some walking combinations!
