St. Paul's Church on the Paulsberg hill is nestled amidst magnificent vineyards overlooking the ancient Moselle valley. Until the 16th century, St. Paul's Church was the religious center of fourteen surrounding villages and a popular pilgrimage destination. It is arguably the oldest church in the region and served as a refuge for the population during the difficult times of the 1848 revolution. Source: https://www.lieser-mosel.de/paulskirche/

This ancient place of worship, originally dedicated to the Holy Cross, became a place of pilgrimage and a religious center for fourteen surrounding villages thanks to a relic of the cross. It served as the parish church of Lieser until the 16th century, when a new church was built in the center of the village. A hermit's dwelling has been documented since 1618, which still exists today and was inhabited until the middle of the 19th century. Over time, the patronage of the hermit Paul became established for the church. The oldest parts of the present church are likely the cross-vaulted sacristy and the west wing (portal marked 1617) with vestibule, former goat stable, and the hermitage above. Until the 18th century, the southern part of the west wing (vestibule and hermitage) was probably developed as a tower; today, there is a small turret above the nave. In 1718, construction began on the new choir and nave, which had become dilapidated. Source: https://www.pr-bernkastel

The square is characterized by its unique grace and dignity, setting it apart from other market squares in Germany, as it combines attractive coziness with carefree cheerfulness, thus becoming the town's living room. It also serves as its ballroom, the focal point and heart of its life. The 400-year-old half-timbered houses, the Renaissance Town Hall (1608), the St. Michael's Fountain (1606), and the much-admired, charming "Pointed House" (1416) reflect the living poetry of the Middle Ages. The filigree work of the fountain grille, the ornaments and colorful beam drawings in the half-timbering of the houses, and the ornate weather vanes on the roof gables still bear eloquent witness to the town's former prosperity and history. From here, you can enjoy the view of Bernkastel-Kues. From Traben-Trarbach, you can reach this point directly over the mountain, passing under the B50 highway. However, if you head towards Traben-Trarbach from here, you can take the downhill sections, which are almost trail-like, at a more relaxed pace.

Here you can see the Zeltinger Sundial. The term Zeltinger Sundial refers to a German vineyard in Zeltingen, a district of the municipality of Zeltingen-Rachtig on the Moselle. The wines grown on this 21.5-hectare single vineyard (predominantly Riesling) are renowned throughout the region. The site is steep and slopes south-southwest. The vines thrive on Devonian and slate soils. The Zeltinger Sundial single vineyard is part of the Münzlay large vineyard. Source: https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeltinger_Sonnenuhr
