🏘️ Platten is an idyllic wine village that is often mentioned in connection with the Moselle, but strictly speaking lies in the picturesque side valley of the Lieser – only about 4 km from the mouth of the Moselle.

Most Beautiful Vineyard View in the Bernkastel-Wittlich District Of the five proposals in the Mosel wine-growing region, the application from Lieser (Bernkastel-Wittlich District) received the most votes, making it the "Most Beautiful Vineyard View 2020" on the Mosel. The location at the Hambuchhütte near Lieser will be marked with a stele provided by the German Wine and Wine Association (DWI). "The 'Most Beautiful Vineyard View' award is given to vantage points that offer impressive views of Germany's wine-growing landscapes and are also easily accessible by hikers or bikers." The Bridge Gate of Traben-Trarbach on the Moselle River is the town's landmark and stands on the southern bank of the Moselle Bridge. Designed by Bruno Möhring as a decorative bridge closure, it has housed a café-restaurant since its construction. In the 1960s, a renovation added a gallery with temporary exhibitions. The wines grown on this 21.5-hectare single vineyard (predominantly Riesling) are renowned throughout the region. The site is steep and slopes south-southwest.
