🏘️ Platten is an idyllic wine village that is often mentioned in connection with the Moselle, but strictly speaking lies in the picturesque side valley of the Lieser – only about 4 km from the mouth of the Moselle.

Most Beautiful Vineyard View in the Bernkastel-Wittlich District Of the five proposals in the Mosel wine-growing region, the application from Lieser (Bernkastel-Wittlich District) received the most votes, making it the "Most Beautiful Vineyard View 2020" on the Mosel. The location at the Hambuchhütte near Lieser will be marked with a stele provided by the German Wine and Wine Association (DWI). "The 'Most Beautiful Vineyard View' award is given to vantage points that offer impressive views of Germany's wine-growing landscapes and are also easily accessible by hikers or bikers." Here you can see the Zeltinger Sundial. The term Zeltinger Sundial refers to a German vineyard in Zeltingen, a district of the municipality of Zeltingen-Rachtig on the Moselle. The wines grown on this 21.5-hectare single vineyard (predominantly Riesling) are renowned throughout the region. The site is steep and slopes south-southwest. The historic market square in Wittlich is a small gem of art history. Opposite the Old Town Hall stands today's Hotel Well. The magnificent Renaissance building was formerly known as "Zum Wolf." Next to it is a simple 18th-century Baroque building, the former Neuerburg House. The Baroque building on the long side was built as a post office in 1753 by the Fier family.
