🏘️ Platten is an idyllic wine village that is often mentioned in connection with the Moselle, but strictly speaking lies in the picturesque side valley of the Lieser – only about 4 km from the mouth of the Moselle.

Landshut Castle is an imposing ancient ruin and the prominent landmark of Bernkastel-Kues on the Moselle River. It houses an upscale restaurant with panoramic views and exorbitant prices.

In summer, only e-bike egos are on the road – nasty situation! 😅

The location at the Hambuchhütte near Lieser will be marked with a stele provided by the German Wine and Wine Association (DWI). The wines grown on this 21.5-hectare single vineyard (predominantly Riesling) are renowned throughout the region. The site is steep and slopes south-southwest.
