The historic port of Tönning impresses with its centuries-old history and its picturesque appearance. The historic port was founded in 1613. The Tönning shrimp boats, service ships of the Water and Shipping Authority and numerous pleasure boats are still moored here today. It is considered one of the most beautiful ports on the west coast of North Friesland. The historic port of Tönning is a very popular excursion destination and offers the unique opportunity to experience the beauty of historic architecture and life on the North Sea. The most impressive building near the port of Tönning is probably the packing house. Built in 1783, it served for many years as a storage location for wood, hard coal and much more. Over the years, the packing house became increasingly important economically due to the increasing number of ships in the port of Tönning. The historic building has been a listed building since 1965.
