The source of the Inde is located in Belgium near the city of Raeren. It crosses the state border after approx. 2.5 km. Behind Weisweiler, the Inde was relocated because of the Inden open-cast lignite mine and now flows to the north-west around the open-cast mine to the south of the city of Jülich. There it flows into the Rur.

Small corrections: Raeren is a municipality in Ostbelgien (DG). The Inde rises below the Petergensfeld district in the forest. The source is in the Venn-Eifel Nature Park, but it flows more through the Venn foreland and through the Jülich Börde to flow into the Ruhr in Kirchberg.

And yes, it is very beautiful and also romantic on the Eifelsteig between

      Kornelimünster and Friesenrath.

The river Inde, which flows through Kornelimünster, accompanies the Eifelsteig stage 1 for a while. Very romantic river.
