Please check local regulations for: Peak District National Park
Part of the Howden Moors in the Peak District National Park, Margery Hill is one of the highest points in the city of Sheffield. It might seem a little incongruous, but the city limits do indeed extend to here and the hill is only pipped to the top spot by High Stones, just to the south. You’ll find Margery Hill at 1,791 feet (546 m), sat on the edge of the moorland, high above the northern extent of Derwent Reservoir.
The moors have a network of trails, paths and bridleways so you can reach the hill from almost any direction. A good option is to park at one of the reservoirs to the south, enjoying the water’s edge before ascending one of the cloughs to the higher moorland. Alternatively, Langsett Reservoir to the north east or the village of Low Bradfield are good starting points for adventures here too.
At the summit, you’ll find a trig pillar and a nearby cairn of boulders, which is believed to be a Bronze Age burial mound and is now fenced off.

A 1,791-foot (546 m) high trig pointed summit just north of Howden Edge. Nice rest spot.

Surrounded by gritstone, this trig point has far reaching views over Howden Edge. The nearby Margery Rocks are a great place for a picnic stop. The area surrounding the trig point can be very boggy and wet, with some of the bogs being quite deep, so take care when visiting.
