Here at the reservoir it is wonderfully quiet. In many places you have a beautiful view of the lake and the opposite side of the river.
The Perlenbachtalsperre is located near Monschau in the Aachen region in North Rhine-Westphalia. On the west side of the lake is the federal highway 399, while on the east side of a hiking trail from the dam to the Höfener mill runs. The building dams the Perlenbach and serves the drinking water supply as well as the power generation by hydropower. The dam was completed in 1956 and is operated by the Wasserversorgungszweckverband Perlenbach.

The dam supplies 50,000 people with drinking water, in October 2018 there is only a trickle left.

Small dam that supplies the surrounding villages. Beautifully embedded in the landscape. Can be committed at any time.

The Perlenbachtalsperre near Monschau can be wandered around wonderfully and is part of various hiking routes (such as the monastery round) that lead past here.

It serves for drinking water supply and power generation and was completed in 1956.

The Perlenbach Dam was built between 1953 and 1956 as a drinking water dam with a capacity of approx. 800,000 m³. The Steinschüttdamm has a length of approx. 120 meters and is 18 meters high.
Since 2004, the dam has also been used to generate CO2-free energy. After three years of construction, a hydropower plant was put into operation that generates between 850000 and 1.2 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually. In this way, around 300 households can be supplied with environmentally friendly electricity.
