The Perlenbachtalsperre is located near Monschau in the district of Aachen in North Rhine-Westphalia. It serves the drinking water supply by the Wasserversorgungszweckverband Perlenbach and the power generation by hydropower. It was completed in 1956 and dams the Perlenbach.
The dam of the dam is a stone dump of slate and greywacke with asphalt concrete exterior seal. The hydropower plant has a capacity of 100 kW. The flood relief has a 27 m wide solid raid and a 8.5 m wide fish belly flap.
On the west side of the lake is the federal highway 399, while on the east side of a hiking trail from the dam to the Höfener mill runs.

The reservoir Perlenau is surrounded by a beautiful hiking trail. During a visit, there is a refreshment stop at the north and south end of the lake. Nearby there is a lookout with views over the entire complex. A guided hike under the title "Ways of Water in Monschau" is offered - Infos at Monschau Touristik.
