Located in the center of Magedburg, the Green Citadel next to the Magdeburg Cathedral is probably one of the most frequently photographed buildings in the city. The last work on which Friedensreich Hundertwasser worked before his death was completed in 2005, and houses various shops, restaurants and a hotel. Incidentally, the name refers to the grassy roof.

Hiking

It finally worked: we went to Magdeburg mainly because of the green citadel and stayed in the art hotel. You should definitely take part in the guided tour through the entire building complex! You get access to the inner complexes, e.g. tenants' gardens, small penthouses and - after climbing 8 floors - to the roof with the golden balls. Fantastically beautiful!!!
