The park was created in 1895 as part of a horticultural exhibition based on plans by Magdeburg's city garden director Johann Gottlieb Schoch, who also designed the park on Fürstenwall.Like many other parks in the inner city, the Geschwister-Scholl-Park was built on a former bastion. It was originally called the Königin-Luise-Garten, also known colloquially as the Luisengarten, and it was not until 1951 that it received its current name. The park is surprising due to its impressive terrain movement with a valley that is at least 9 meters deep. Heavily neglected in recent decades, it has only really come into its own again since a comprehensive renovation between 1990 and 1994.Source: magdeburg.de/Start/B%C3%BCrger-Stadt/index.php?La=1&NavID=37.367&object=tx|557.850.1
