The first documented mention of a “Pons Uillah” dates back to 878 - which means Villach can claim the title of the oldest bridge in Carinthia! The bridge toll, which was collected by the State Princely Toll Station based in Hauptplatz No. 1, brought the city good income until 1903.

Some really good views from the bridge and also from the path along the river looking up at the bridge. Lots of cafes and restaurants close by. Can get busy during the day.
