The Villach Trinity Column on the main square, often incorrectly referred to as the Plague Column, dates from 1739 and was built in honor of Saint Mary and the Holy Trinity; The plague saint Rochus and the fire patron St. Florian are at their side as assistant figures at the foot of the column.

The column was erected in 1606 and the city hoped it would provide heavenly protection. In 1713, in memory of the plague, the statues of Mary, St. Florian and St. Added Roch, the patron saint of plagues.
