"The first mention of a church in Mühlberg dates back to the year 726. There is further evidence of a small Romanesque church building called "Gallus" around the year 1200.
Today's Romanesque village church of Saint Luke (Luke the Evangelist) is a medieval fortified church from around 1300.
The church suffered major damage during the Thirty Years' War (1618 - 1648) and was extensively renovated in the Baroque style between 1680 and 1740. The walled-in tombstones in the east gable also date from that time.”
