In the urban area of Bad Kreuznach there is the 2 meter high and around 90 meter wide Elisabethenwehr. At this weir, the Mühlkanal branches off, which shapes the entire townscape of Bad Kreuznach. In its current condition, the weir cannot be overcome for the entire aquatic fauna. This prevents the natural exchange of aquatic fauna within the Nahe.
