Lonely, the rectangular keep stands enthroned on a steep cliff.
The castle was first mentioned in documents in 1158 and was originally the imperial fief of the Lords of Stein, later called lords of Steinkallenfels (extinct 1778). Since the 14th century she was Ganerbenburg. 1615, the castle is already described as dilapidated. Finally, it was blown up in 1682/84 by the French and has since been a ruin.A large rock wall on the back serves as an impressive climbing wall.

The ruined castle Stein is closed because of collapse danger and not accessible.The castle ruin Steinkallenfels was first mentioned in 1158.
1615, the castle was already described as dilapidated. Finally, it was blown up in 1682/84 by the French and has since been a ruin.
