From the Säntis down to the wagon gap, you have two opportunities at the wagon gap, either you go on a rocky path towards Meglisalp (has no exposed areas and the way is well developed) or you go through the gap in the car direction Mesmer. This path is initially a bit steep and is a bit slippery on the scree-like ground .... then follows a short secured spot through a rock area (not demanding) and then it's on a nice narrow path to the Inn Mesmer. The memorial cross in the wagon gap stands for accidental Säntisträger the wagon gap.

The way from the wagon gap towards Mesmer I can highly recommend. After the slippery (and a bit steep) spot at the beginning, there is always a "turf spot" along the way where you can sit down, rest and admire the Säntis. Just watch where you step and sit down.

Pass crossing between the valley sides of the Mesmer and the Meglisalp. The Säntis is very close here. I really like it here, a dream destination for me.
