From the Säntis down to the Wagenlücke, you have two options at the Wagenlücke, either you go along a somewhat rocky path towards Meglisalp (there are no exposed areas and the path is well developed) or you go through the Wagenlücke towards Mesmer. This path is initially a little steep and is a little slippery on the scree-like surface... then there is a short secured section through a rocky section (not particularly demanding) and then you continue along a beautiful narrow path to the Mesmer inn.

Hiking

The way from the wagon gap towards Mesmer I can highly recommend. After the slippery (and a bit steep) spot at the beginning, there is always a "turf spot" along the way where you can sit down, rest and admire the Säntis. Just watch where you step and sit down.

Hiking

A striking pass between the valley sides of Mesmer and Meglisalp. The Säntis is very close from here. I really like it here; it's a dream destination for me. If you continue up, you'll reach the Säntis summit (a relatively easy path with no major exposed sections).
