Succession of the Empress Elisabeth Bridge (1855). In 1915, this chain bridge burned down. On the pillars, the Tyrš Bridge (named after Miroslav Tyrš) was built in 1933.

The former chain bridge from 1855 was converted into a steel structure. The length is 118 m. You have a beautiful view of the Elbe.

The Tyrš Bridge in Děčín was completed in 1933, replacing the older Empress Elisabeth Chain Bridge.

The old Chain Bridge was built in 1855, when Děčín urgently needed a reliable connection with Podmokly on the left bank of the Elbe, where the railway line from Prague to Dresden, completed in 1851, ran at the time. With the advent of automobile traffic, the Chain Bridge was no longer suitable in terms of technology and capacity. For cost reasons, the option of replacing the bridge chain structure with a modern steel structure on modified pillars of the original bridge was chosen. The Škodovy závody joint-stock company in Pilsen was awarded the contract for the construction in a public tender.
The bridge consists of three fields. The middle field is designed as an arch with an upper arch 17.5 m high and has a span of 118.1 m. The end fields are beam constructions and have the same length of 30.5 m. The width of the street is 9.2 m.
The riveted steel structure weighs 1,200 t, of which 715 t is St 52 steel (equivalent to 11523 steel) and 70,000 rivets were used.
The total weight of the original bridge was 2,400 tons.
