Trails up are very demanding - for inexperienced bikers, therefore, the trails are highly recommended.

    Mahlberg (613 m)
There is a sign on the tower of the Mahlberg with the following inscription:
The first tower was built in 1896 under Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden, protector of the Karlsruhe section of the Baden Black Forest Association. Artillery shelling on April 10, 1945 damaged the tower so badly that it had to be demolished in August 1961 The laying of the foundation stone took place on June 3, 1962, and the inauguration of the new Karlsruhe tower took place on September 29, 1962 was rebuilt.
The tower is the destination of many hikers in summer and winter. It is freely accessible and a small contribution to conservation is requested on Sundays. There is a public grill at the foot of the tower.

The damage caused by hurricane Lothar is particularly evident on Mahlberg.

The places Völkersbach, Malsch, Waldprechtsweier and Friolzheim used to be a market cooperative [1]. When Friolzheim resigned from this in 1811, a forest was divided around the Mahlberg, giving Völkersbach possession of around 50 hectares of forest. Since this area is relatively far away from the main district area and the slopes on the Mahlberg are very steep, a forest exchange should be undertaken at the end of the 19th century, which was proposed by the district offices in Ettlingen and Rastatt. However, because the villages involved could not agree, the status quo has been preserved up to the present.

Völkersbach has been part of Malsch since 1973. Because Malsch belongs to the district of Karlsruhe, the small Waldenklave on Mahlberg also belongs to the district, which means that the highest elevation in the district is 613 meters, which can be reached here.

The Mahlberg Tower is always worth a drive. Not only because of the magnificent view. The Bedouin Trail and the French Trail are also downhill fun.

Nicer, easier, though sometimes a little narrow trail. You should only be careful at the transitions to the crossing forest paths.

From the Mahlberg tower you have a wonderful view of the Rhine Valley.
With good visibility even the Vosges can be seen very well. There are also some nice trails for the descent.
