On the summit is the Kalmithaus, a managed hut of the Palatinate Forest Association, a weather station and a transmission mast, which also carries an amateur radio relay. The view from here is great.

The Kalmit summit with its managed by the Palatinate Forest Club hut is a highlight in any season and definitely worth a hike ... alone because of the fantastic view.

The Kalmit, also called Great Kalmit, near Maikammer in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Südliche Weinstraße is 672.6 m above sea level. NHN the highest mountain in the Palatinate Forest. Very close to the Felsenmeer. The name is apt. A sea of rocks.

A big movie theater. Definitely take a break. Depending on the running direction, do not forget the PWV hut Hohe Loog. And remember, professionals put their glasses right in the dish rack at the counter.

Who can, visit the Hohe Loog Hut on a Saturday. A relaxing atmosphere, no long queues at the bar and balanced staff we have encountered today. In addition - despite the best weather - on the narrow paths and otherwise almost no mountain bikers on the way.

Nice view - and good refreshments in the Ludwigshafener hut. At my stop today was the announcement made that the toilet is locked for 10 minutes, because the pump which pumped water from Maikammer high on the Kalmit was a bit overloaded and it takes a while until the water tank was refilled. Was also good going on today.

Great view of Maikammer and the Rhine plain. There is strengthening at the Kalmithütte, section of the PWV of the local group Ludwigshafen-Mannheim.

Beautiful refreshment opportunity on the highest mountains of the Palatinate, in good weather you can let your eyes wander far, sometimes even to the Black Forest. The food is hearty!

The Grosse Kalmit is located south of Neustadt an der Weinstraße and is at 673 m the second highest mountain in the Palatinate. Also interesting as the rocky sea around the Kalmit.
