The "Rumpál" tower was part of the castle's defense system, which was built by Bavor II around 1270. It probably got its name from the device used to lower offenders into the dungeon on the ground floor. Today, 96 steps lead to the viewing platform, which offers a beautiful view of the city of Strakonice and the nearby peaks of the Bohemian Forest foothills.
